eSign Overview
The eSign module lets you send documents for digital signature and receive a sealed, signed copy when all parties have completed their fields. The full chain — from uploading a PDF to receiving a signed document — is covered in this section.
How eSign works
A signing request moves through the following stages:
- Prepare — Upload a PDF and place signature fields and form controls where signers should sign or fill in information.
- Send — Finalize the document and send a signing invitation to each signer by email.
- Sign — The signer opens a secure link in the invitation email, reviews the document, and applies their signature.
- Seal — When all signers have completed their fields, the document is sealed. A final signed copy is available to download.
Each stage is covered in a dedicated article:
- Preparing a Document for Signing
- Sending for Signature and Tracking Status
- Signing a Document — written for signers; useful to share with recipients
eSign in the portal
Navigate to eSign in the portal sidebar. The main view lists your documents with their current status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | The document is being prepared — fields placed but not yet sent |
| Pending | Sent to signers; waiting for one or more to complete |
| Completed | All signers have signed; the document is sealed |
| Expired | The signing link expired before all signers completed |
| Cancelled | The request was cancelled before signing was complete |
What signers need
Signers do not need a Serene Creations account. They receive an email with a unique signing link that opens the document in a browser without requiring a login.
Signing links are single-use per signer and expire after a period you set at send time.
