Asking Questions and Getting Answers
This article covers the mechanics of a conversation with Ask Neo: how to phrase questions, how to read responses, and how to follow up.
Starting a conversation
- Navigate to Assistant in the portal sidebar.
- Type your question or request in the input field at the bottom of the panel.
- Press Enter or select Send.
Ask Neo responds in the conversation above the input field.
Phrasing your question
Ask Neo understands natural language — no special commands or keywords are needed. Direct questions work best:
| Instead of… | Try… |
|---|---|
| “help” | “How do I invite a team member?” |
| “billing” | “Where can I update my billing contact email?” |
| “esign problem” | “A signer says the link expired — what should I do?” |
More specific questions get more useful answers. If your first answer is not quite right, add more context in your follow-up.
Reading a response
Ask Neo responses may include:
- Direct answers — a clear explanation or step-by-step instructions.
- Links to documentation — references to relevant articles in Serene Docs.
- Suggestions — alternative approaches or next steps.
Ask Neo can make mistakes or give outdated information. If an answer affects something important, verify it in the relevant part of the portal or documentation before acting on it.
Following up
The conversation persists in the session. After a response, you can:
- Ask a follow-up question: “What if I don’t have that permission?”
- Refine your original question: “I meant for newsletter drafts, not mail drafts.”
- Ask for more detail: “Can you explain the expiry settings in more depth?”
Each follow-up builds on the prior context in the conversation.
Starting a new conversation
To clear the current conversation and start fresh:
- Select New conversation (or the
+icon at the top of the assistant panel). - The history is cleared and you start with a blank input.
Previous conversations are not retrievable once cleared.
